Biographie

Carlos Perón wurde 1952 in Zürich als Sohn eines Kaufmanns und einer Gastronomin geboren. Seine Mutter betrieb das legendäre Ristorante Pizzeria Napoli, die erste Pizzeria in Zürich 1954 und mit vier Jahren konnte Carlos dank seinem Lieblingskoch Antonio Rizzi seine erste Pizza backen. Während der Kindergarten-und Primarschulzeit hielt er sich oft bei den Bildhauern Otto Müller und Silvio Mattioli im Künstlerhaus Zürich an der Wuhrstrasse auf. Ab der ersten Klasse bekam Carlos Perón klassischen Flötenuntericht. Nach Abschluss der Sekundarschule absolvierte Carlos Perón eine Ausbildung als Rohkaffeekaufmann.

Ab 1964 begann er elektronische Musik zu sammeln. In den 60ern sah er ein Konzert von Karlheinz Stockhausen im Verkehrshaus Luzern. Der Zyklus Kommunion und Intensität begeisterte ihn derart, dass er beschloss, selbst elektronische Musik zu produzieren. Er begann mit einem Grundig TK24L Tonband Lärmbilder und Lachorgien aufzunehmen, die er zu Silvester der versammelten Lehrerschaft vorspielte. Die Reaktionen waren sehr zwiespältig. Seine erste Solo LP Impersonator I enthält einige dieser «musique concrète»-Kompositionen.

Carlos Perón war zunächst Keyboarder der Zürcher New Wave Formation URLAND um den Schlagzeuger Sternini, den Bassisten Ron Styler und den Gitarristen Boris Blank. Nach dem Split der Gruppe gründete Perón mit Boris Blank das TRANCEONIC Studio in seinen Privaträumen in Zürich. In diesem Experimentalstudio entwickelten die beiden ihren eigenen und den späteren Yello-Sound. 1978 unternahmen Carlos Perón und Boris Blank eine USA-Reise. Sie besuchten die RCA in Los Angeles und in San Francisco das Ralph Records-Label der Residents. Nach ihrer Rückkehr stellte sich der Punksänger Dieter Meier als Shouter bei ihnen vor und sang auf den unfertigen Track IT Splash. Carlos Perón war amused, Boris Blank noch skeptisch, er wollte lieber eine Sängerin. Zeitgleich erhielt Carlos Perón ein Telegramm von Ralph-Records, mit einem lukrativen Angebot für eine LP.

1979 zog Carlos Perón mit seinem Studio in die Ateliers von Dieter Meier in der Roten Fabrik um. Auf seine Iniative wurde das Trio Yello wurde gegründet. Die erste Maxisingle mit IT Splash und Glue head erschien bei Perifery Perfume Records Zürich. 1980 erschien beim US-Label Ralph Records die erste Yello-LP Solid pleasure. 1981 folgte Carlos Peróns erste Solo-LP beim Label Konkurrenz im Hause Phonogram. Dort erhielt Yello über deren Geschäftsführer Louis Spillmann einen Major Deal. Im selben Jahr wurde die Yello-LP Claro que si, der Soundtrack zum Film von Dieter Meier Jetzt und alles, und das erste Video von Yello zum Track The Evening’s young veröffentlicht. 1983 veröffentlichte Perón den Soundtrack zum Film Die schwarze Spinne des Regisseurs Mark M. Rissi auf dem Label Milan disques. Zeitgleich wurde die dritte Yello-LP You gotta say yes to another excess veröffentlicht, sie erschien gleichzeitig als eine der ersten CDs der Welt.

1984 verliess Carlos Perón Yello, um sich einer Vielzahl von Soloprojekten zu widmen, und gründete das Label Kristall Sound, wo er auch als Musikproduzent tätig wurde. 1985 veröffentlichte er sein Oratorium Die Schöpfung der Welt; oder 7 Tage Gottes, wiederum auf Milan disques. Auf demselben Label veröffentlichte er den Video Soundtrack zum Film Commando Leopard von Erwin C. Dietrich. Carlos Perón war angeblich der erste, der ein Video aus einem Kinofilm schnitt.

Ab 1985 widmete sich Carlos Perón dem Gold-Projekt, welches er 1989 bei Teldec veröffentlichte. 1988 starte er seine Impersonator-Serie beim Label Play it again; Sam in Brüssel. 1990 komponierte Perón die Musik für Harald Schmidts TV-Show «Schmidteinander» und lieferte in den ersten drei Folgen live die Soundeffekte.

Ab 1991 arbeitete er mit Labelchef Lothar Gärtner von Strange Ways Records zusammen. Perón produziert für Strange Ways Soloalben und Gruppen wie Wolfsheim, Sielwolf, The Cain Principle, Stalin, Cyrus, Recall und viele andere. Perón beginnt auch «Fetishsoundtracks» wie Terminatrix und La salle blanche zu komponieren, die ihm ein neues Geschäftsfeld eröffnen.

1998 machte Carlos Perón den Sänger Joachim Witt mit Lothar Gärtner bekannt. Die Idee, eine Single mit Peter Heppner von Wolfsheim mit dem Titel Die Flut zu produzieren, kam Perón und Gärtner während des Verzehrs eines typischen Fischmenüs und reichlich Weisswein an den St. Pauli Landungsbrücken. Joachim Witt war begeistert und legte gleich los. Die Flut erreichte Platinstatus.

2006/2007 ist ein Teil von Peróns Backkatalog von der Firma SPV weltweit neu aufgelegt worden, 2009 ist sein komplettes Werk (über 60 VÖ’s) digital wiederveröffentlicht worden.

Unabhängig davon arbeitet Perón mit dem Librettisten Osberth McLellan an „Oper der O“, und „Saladin“. Auch arbeitet Perón weltweit als Musikproduzent und Mastering Experte in verschiedenen Studios.

CARLOS PERÓN is a swiss musician, pioneer of electronic music in the second generation and founder of the band "YELLO". Carlos Perón was born in 1952 in Zurich as the son of a marchant and a restaurant owner. His mother was leading the legendary Ristorante Pizzeria Napoli, the first pizzeria on Swiss ground, so only 4 year old Carlos Perón was able to bake his first very own pizza. During his time in kindargarden and primary school he spent a lot of time with sculptorers Otto Müller and Silvio Mattioli in the Künstlerhaus Zürich.

From the first grade on, Carlos Perón has been taught to play calssic flute. After he had finnished secondary school, Carlos Perón started an apprenticeship as a coffee-merchant. In 1964 he began to collect electronic music. In the 60's he watched a concert of Karlheinz Stockhausen in Verkehrshaus Luzern. "Zyklus Kommunion" and "Intensität" seemed so awesome to him, that he decided to produce electronic music himself. He began with a Grundig TK24L and recorded laughter, which he showed to all of his teachers on New Year's Eve. The reactions to this varied very much. His first Solo LP "Impersonator I" includes several of these "musique concrète" compositions.

At the beginning Carlos Perón was keyboarder of the New Wave Formation "Urland" from Zürich, together with drummer Sternini, bassist Ron Styler and guitarist Boris Blank. After the groups' break up, Perón and Boris Blank founded the TRANCERONIC Studio in Zürich. Within this experimental studio, both of them developed the later Yello-Sound.

1978 Carlos Perón and Boris Blank travelled to the USA. They visited RCA in Los Angeles and the Ralph Records Label of the resident in San Francisco. After they had returned, Dieter Meier applied as a singer for their formation and could be heard on the incomplete track "IT Splash". Carlos Perón was convinced, but Boris Blank was sceptic about having a male singer, because he was prefering a female voice. Meanwhile, Carlos Perón got a telegram from Ralph-Records with a luctrative offering for recording the LP. In 1979 the studio moved into the atelier of Dieter Meier's "Rote Fabrik" and the trio "Yello" was founded. The first single, including "IT Splash" and "Glue Head" have been released by Perifery Perfume Records Zurich. 1980 the US-Lable "Ralph Records" released the first Yello-LP "Solid peasure".

1981 Carlos Peróns first Solo-LP was realeased by the lable "Konkurrenz" in the house of "Phonogram". There, Yello was offered a major deal through the managing director Louis Spillmann. Within the same year, the Yello-LP "Claro que si" the OST to the movie "Jetzt und Alles" by Dieter Meiner, and the first music video by Yello "The Evening's young" have been released. 1983 Perón released the OST for the movie "Die schwarze Spinne" by director Mark M. Rissi through the lable "Milan disques". At the same time the third Yello-LP "You gotta say yes to another excess" was published and was also one of the first CD- releases of the world. 1984 Carlos Perón left Yello to concentrate on several solo-projects and founded the lable "Kristall Sound". 1985 he released the Oratorium: „Die Schöpfung der Welt; oder 7 Tage Gottes“ on the lable "Milan disques". He also released the video-soundtrack to the movie "Commando Leopard" by Erwin C. Dietrich over the same lable. It's said, that Carlos Perón was te first artist, who edited his musicvideo from a movie. In 1985 he started to work on the Gold-Project, which was released in 1989 via Teldec. In 1988 he started his new Impersonator-Series at the lable "Play it again; Sam" in Brussel.

1990 he composed the music for Harald Schmidts' TV-Show "Schmidteinander" WDR/ARD and did the soundeffects live for the first three episodes. Schmidt said about Perón: „The most danguerous musican in the word“. From 1991 on he has worked with lable manager Lothar Gärtner from Strange Ways Records. Perón produced soloalbums for "Strange Ways" and also produced groups as Wolfsheim, Sielwolf, The Cain, Principle, Stalin, Cyrus, Recall and many more as a inhouse producer and mastering expert as well as a publisher. His publishing company EISENBERG édition musicale is allied with Warner/Chappell, Hamburg.

Perón also began to compose "Fetish Soundtracks" like "Terminatrix" and "La salle blanche" which showed a new businessmodel to him.
1998 Carlos Perón introduced singer Joachim Witt and Lothar Gärtner to each other. The Idea to produce a single with Peter Heppner of Wolfsheim called "Die Flut" came, when Perón and Gärtner had a fish- dinner with lots of white wine at St. Pauli Landungsbrücken. Joachin Witt was great with the idea and started right away. In 2006/2007 a part of Peróns back catalogue was rereleased by "SPV" wordwide and in 2009 his complete works was released on the digital market. Apart from this, Perón worked with the librettist Osberth McLellan on "Das Musical der "O", "Die Oper des Saladin" and on his book „Elektroshaman“.

Perón owns serveral labels eg DARK DAZE music INC., YellowSunshineBeat, antiK, Schlagober and EISENBERG under the LC No. 05641. Those labels are ww distributed by The Orchard, New York.

Perón also works worldwide as producer and masteringexpert in different studios.
